‘Strings Alive’ workshop with NEW Sinfonia
Sunday 17 September 10.00
I am delighted to be leading this workshop at Ysgol Brynhyfryd in collaboration with Denbighshire Music Services tutors and the North Wales International Music Festival. The young string players will study Vaughan Williams’ Concerto Grosso; a piece especially composed for every level of ability and age, to be performed at the final concert on Saturday 30th September.
An early musical inspiration for me was taking part in a similar masterclass with the Orchestra of the Swan as viola player organised as part of the North Wales International Music Festival in 2005. In a virtuous circle I will be running a very similar young musicians’ course as part of this year’s festival, taking place on Sunday, September 17, at Ysgol Brynhyfryd in Ruthin. This workshop is open to all string players of any ability still and there are still places for recruits to this youth masterclass at the North Wales International Music Festival.
With thanks to the Thomas Howell’s Education Fund for North Wales.
