Over the Easter holiday, I will be conducting the Four Counties String Orchestra on their residential course at Moreton Hall. I grew up playing as a violinist and violist with the Wrexham Youth Orchestra, and progressed through to the Four Counties, North Wales and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. These groups gave me incredible musical experiences where I performed so many pieces and helped prepare me for my studies in Manchester at the University and RNCM. As you can imagine, it feels special to go “home” and work with the young musicians coming through in the four counties which include Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy. We will be working on repertoire which includes Bartok’s Hungarian Dances, Mozart’s Divertimento in F and Greig’s Two Elegiac Melodies.
