Stockport Symphony Orchestra
ARNOLD Peterloo Overture
BRAHMS Double Concerto
PROKOFIEV Symphony No 5
Robert Guy, conductor
Charles Mutter/Nicholas Holland, violin/cello
I am looking forward to starting a new role as Principal Guest Conductor with Stockport Symphony Orchestra this season.
An eponymous overture marking a significant event with a bicentenary is this years’ season opener, finishing, fittingly, with a symphony “conceived…as glorifying the grandeur of the human spirit, … the free and happy man—his strength, his generosity, and the purity of his soul.”
In between, the Brahms Double hasn’t been heard in Stockport since 1987 and we are thrilled to have the BBC Concert Orchestra leader and Balanescu Quartet cellist to perform it tonight.
